غزل ۱۱۴۲ مولانا

۱	درخت اگر مُتَحَرِّک بُدی به پا و به پَر	نه رنجِ اَرِّه کشیدی نه زَخْم‌‌های تَبَر
۲	وَرْ آفتاب نَرَفتی به پَرّ و پا همه شب	جهان چگونه مُنَوَّر شُدی به گاهِ سَحَر؟
۳	وَرْ آبِ تَلْخ نَرَفتی زِ بَحرْ سویِ اُفُق	کجا حَیاتِ گُلِسْتان شُدی به سیل و مَطَر؟
۴	چو قطره از وَطَنِ خویش رفت و بازآمد	مُصادفِ صَدَف او گشت و شُد یکی گوهر
۵	نه یوسُفی به سَفَر رفت از پدرْ گریان	نه در سَفَر به سَعادت رَسید و مُلْک و ظَفَر؟
۶	نه مُصطفی به سَفَر رفت جانِبِ یَثْرب	بِیافت سَلْطنت و گشت شاهِ صد کشور؟
۷	وَگَر تو پایْ نداری سَفَر گُزین در خویش	چو کانِ لَعْل پَذیرا شو از شُعاعِ اَثَر
۸	زِ خویشتن سَفَری کُن به خویش ای خواجه	که از چُنین سفری گشت خاکْ مَعْدَنِ زَر
۹	زِ تَلْخی و تُرُشی رو به سویِ شیرینی	چُنان که رَستْ زِ تَلْخی هزار گونه ثَمَر
۱۰	زِ شَمس مَفْخَرِ تبریز جویْ شیرینی	از آن که هر ثَمَر از نورِ شَمس یابَد فَر

۱- If a tree could move on foot or wing, it would not suffer the pain of the saw or the blows of the axe;

۲- And if the sun did not travel on wing and foot all the night, how would the world be illumined at morningtide?

۳- If the salt water did not rise from the sea to the sky, whence would the garden be revived by torrent and rain?

۴- When the drop departed from its homeland and returned, it encountered a shell and became a pearl.

۵- Did not Joseph go from his father on a journey, weeping? Did he not on the journey attain felicity and kingdom and victory?

۶- Did not Mustafā go on a journey towards Yathrib, gain sovereignty, and become king of a hundred lands?

۷- And you—if you have no foot, choose to journey into yourself; like a ruby-mine be receptive to a print from the sunbeams.

۸- Make a journey out of self into self, my master, for by such a journey earth became a mine of gold.

۹- Go out of sourness and bitterness towards sweetness, just as a thousand sorts of fruits have escaped out of bitterness.

۱۰- Seek sweetness from the Sun, the Pride of Tabriz, for every fruit gains comeliness from the light of the sun.
