غزل ۲۴۶ مولانا

۱	صد دُهُل می‌زنند در دلِ ما	بانگِ آن بِشْنویم ما فردا
۲	پَنبه در گوش و موی در چَشم است	غَمِ فردا و وَسوَسه‌یْ سودا
۳	آتشِ عشق زَن دَرین پَنبه	همچو حَلاّج و هَمچو اَهلِ صَفا
۴	آتش و پنبه را چه می‌داری؟	این دو ضِدَّند و ضِد نکرد بَقا
۵	چون مُلاقاتِ عشق نزدیک است	خوش لِقا شو برایِ روزِ لِقا
۶	مرگِ ما شادی و مُلاقات است	گَر تو را ماتم است، رو زین جا
۷	چون که زندانِ ماست این دنیا	عیش باشد خرابِ زندان‌ها
۸	آنک زندانِ او چُنین خوش بود	چون بُوَد مَجْلِسِ جهان آرا؟
۹	تو وَفا را مَجو در این زندان	که در این جا وَفا نکرد وَفا

۱- A hundred drums are being beaten within our hearts, the roar of which we shall hear tomorrow.

۲- Cotton wool in the ear, hair in the eye-that is the anxiety for tomorrow, the subtle whisper of grief;

۳- Fling Love’s flame into this cotton wool, like Hallāj and like the people of purity.

۴- Why do you keep fire and cotton wool together? These two are opposites, and the opposite never survived.

۵- Since the encounter of Love is near, be joyous of presence for the day of meeting.

۶- For us, death is gladness and encounter; if for you it is an Occasion of mourning, depart hence!

۷- Inasmuch as this present world is our prison, the ruining of prisons is surely a cause for joy.

۸- He whose prison was so delightful-how shall be the court of Him who adorned the world?

۹- Look not for constancy in this prison, for herein constancy itself never kept faith.
