غزل ۲۹۴ مولانا
| ۱ | بُریده شُد از این جویِ جهان آب | بَهارا بازگرد و وارسَان آب | |
| ۲ | از آن آبی که چَشمه‌ی خِضْر و اِلْیاس | نَدیدست و نَبیند آن‌چُنان آب | |
| ۳ | زِهی سَرچَشمه‌یی کَزْ فَرِّ جوشَش | بِجوشَد هر دَمی از عینِ جان آب | |
| ۴ | چو باشد آب‌ها، نان‌ها بِرویَند | ولی هرگز نَرُست ای جانْ زِ نان آب | |
| ۵ | برایِ لُقمه‌یی نانْ چون گدایان | مَریز از رویِ فقر ای میهمان آب | |
| ۶ | سَراسَر جُمله عالَم نیم لُقمه‌ست | زِ حِرصِ نیم لُقمه شُد نَهان آب | |

| ۱۳ | ازان نَخْل است خُرماهایِ مَریَم | نه زَاسْباب‌ست و زین اَبْواب آن آب | |

| ۱- The water has been cut off from this world’s river; O springtide, return and bring back the water! – |
| ۲- Of that water whose like the fountain of Khidar and Ilyas never saw and will never see. |

| ۴- When waters exist, loaves grow; but never, my soul, did water grow from loaf. |

| ۱۰- In that sea whose fishes are all Khidars, therein the fish is immortal, immortal the water. |
| ۱۱- From that vision came the light of the eye, from that roof is the water in the spout; |
| ۱۲- From that garden are these roses of the cheeks, from that waterwheel the rosebower obtains water; |
| ۱۳- From that date-tree are the dates of Mary. That water derives not from secondary causes and suchlike things. |
| ۱۴- Your soul and spirit will then become truly happy, when the water comes flowing towards you from hence. |
| ۱۵- Shake no more your rattle like a nightwatchman, for the water itself is the guardian of these fishes. |
