غزل ۶۴۹ مولانا

۱	بر چَرخْ سَحَرگاه یکی ماهْ عِیان شُد	از چَرخْ فرود آمد و در ما نِگَران شُد
۲	چون باز که بِرْبایَد مُرغی به گَهِ صید	بِرْبود مرا آن مَهْ و بر چَرخْ دَوان شُد
۳	در خود چو نَظَر کردم خود را بِنَدیدم	زیرا که در آن مَهْ تَنَم از لُطفْ چو جان شُد
۴	در جانْ چو سَفَر کردم جُز ماه ندیدم	تا سِرِّ تَجَلّیِّ اَزَل جُمله بیان شُد
۵	نُه چَرخِ فَلَک جُمله در آن ماه فرو شُد	کَشتیِّ وجودم همه در بَحرْ نَهان شُد
۶	آن بَحْر بِزَد موج و خِرَد باز بَرآمَد	وآوازه دَراَفْکَند چُنین گشت و چُنان شُد
۷	آن بَحْر کَفی کرد و به هر پاره از آن کَف	نَقْشی زِ فُلان آمد و جسمی زِ فُلان شُد
۸	هر پاره کَفِ جسم کَزان بَحْرْ نشان یافت	در حالْ گُدازید و در آن بَحرْ رَوان شُد
۹	بی‌دولَتِ مَخْدومی شَمسُ الْحَقِ تبریز	نی ماهْ توان دیدن و نی بَحرْ توان شُد

۱- At the dawn hour a moon appeared in the sky, came down from the sky and gazed upon me.

۲- Like a hawk which seizes a bird at the time of hunting, that moon snatched me up and ran over the sky,

۳- When I gazed at myself I saw myself no more, because in that moon my body through grace became like the soul.

۴- When I voyaged in soul I saw naught but the moon, so that the secret of the eternal revelation was all disclosed.

۵- The nine spheres of heaven were all absorbed in that moon, the ship of my being was entirely hidden in the sea.

۶- That sea surged, and Reason arose again and cast abroad a voice; thus it happened and so it befell.

۷- That sea foamed, and at every foam-fleck something took form and something was bodied forth.

۸- Every foam-fleck of body which received a sign from that sea melted forthwith and became spirit in that sea.

۹- Without the royal fortune of Shams al-Dīn of Tabriz one could neither behold the moon nor become the sea.
