غزل ۱۶۳۸ مولانا

۱	مادرم بَختْ بُدَست و پدرمْ جود و کَرَم	فَرَح اِبْنُ الْفَرَح اِبْنُ الْفَرَح اِبْنُ الْفَرَحَم
۲	هین که بَگْلَربَکِ شادی به سعادت بِرَسید	پُر شُد این شهر و بیابانْ سِپَه و طَبْل و عَلَم
۳	گَر به گُرگی بِرَسَم یوسُفِ مَهْروی شود	در چَهی گَر بِرَوَم گردد چَهْ باغ اِرَم
۴	آن کِه باشد زِ بَخیلی دلِ او آهن و سنگ	حاتِمِ وَقت شود پیشِ من از جود و کَرَم
۵	خاک چون در کَفِ من زَر شود و نُقرهٔ خام	چون مرا راه زَنَد فِتْنه گَرِ زَرّ و دِرَم؟
۶	صَنَمی دارم گَر بویِ خوشش فاش شود	جانْ پَذیرد زِ خوشی گَر بُوَد از سنگْ صَنَم
۷	مُرد غَم در فَرَحَش که جَبَرَاللّهُ عَزاک	آنچُنان تیغ چگونه نَزَنَد گَردنِ غَم؟
۸	بِسِتانَد به سِتَم او دلِ هر کِه خواهد	عَدْلها جُمله غُلامانِ چُنین ظُلْم و سِتَم
۹	آن چه خال است بر آن رُخ که اگر جِلْوه کُند	زود بیگانه شود در هَوَسَش خالْ زِعَم
۱۰	گفتم اَرْبس کُنم و قِصّه فروداشت کُنم	تو تَمامَش کُنی و شَرح کُنی گفت نَعَم

۱- My mother was fortune, my father generosity and bounty; I am joy, son ofjoy, son of joy, son of joy.

۲- Behold, the Marquis of Glee has attained felicity; this city and plain are filled with soldiers and drums and flags.

۴- He whose heart is as iron and stone out of miserliness is now changed before me into a Hātem of the age in generosity and bounty.

۵- Dust becomes gold and pure silver in my hand; how then should the temptation of gold and silver waylay me?

۶- I have an idol such that, were his sweet scent scattered abroad, even an idol of stone would receive life through joy.

۷- Sorrow has died for joy in him of “may God bind your consolation”; how should not such a sword strike the neck of sorrow

۸- By tyranny he seizes the soul of whom he desires; justices are all slaves of such injustice and tyranny.

۹- What is that mole on that face? Should it manifest itself, out of desire for it forthwith maternal aunt would be estranged from paternal [uncle].

۱۰- I said, “If I am done and send my story, will you finish it and expound it?” He answered, “Yes.”
